    MCDONOUGH PALLET RACK

    Pushback Rack in McDonough, GA

Pushback rack belongs in a density discussion when food, beverage or 3PL reserve contains repeated pallets of the same stock. Henry County’s cold-storage cluster and the big-box areas at Westridge Parkway, King Mill Road and Locust Grove’s Bethlehem Road corridor create different reasons to compare deep lanes with selective storage.

A rack plan around the handled load

Pallets sit on nested carts or a matched lane arrangement and are loaded from a single aisle. Each new load moves earlier pallets farther into the lane. Retrieval follows last-in, first-out access within that lane, so inventory rotation has to be settled before choosing depth. McDonough Pallet Rack plans and supplies new systems around actual load behavior.

Density without assigning every item to a deep lane

Start with pallets per stock line and the quantity held in reserve, not the total inventory alone. A 3PL with many small accounts may need selective bays for varied loads while deeper pushback lanes hold matching quantities. Food and beverage stock must have a rotation rule compatible with last-in, first-out lane access.

Choose lane depth from the working quantity and replenishment pattern. An underfilled deep lane can consume positions without helping access. Keep exception pallets in their own locations rather than forcing a different footprint or a partial quantity into a lane designed for a repeated load family.

Cold-rated selections for Henry County reserve

Cooler and freezer warehouses are a significant part of the McDonough market, including automated freezer buildings. Confirm the actual room temperature, pallet construction and minimum and maximum loaded weights. Cold-rated selections and installation planning should follow those inputs, not a broad statement that one arrangement suits every cold-storage application.

If date rotation calls for first-in, first-out movement, compare pallet flow rather than treating pushback as interchangeable. Drive-in is another density option for larger blocks of similar stock, with a different forklift-entry requirement. We keep those operational differences visible when reviewing a cold-storage reserve layout.

Pallet fit and the aisle-side handling envelope

Provide underside details, overhang and load-height families before lane components are selected. Mixed import stock arriving from Savannah through I-16 and I-75 can vary more than the nominal pallet footprint suggests. The cart arrangement and pallet support must suit the actual load, with beam and structural capacities scheduled for the intended lane.

The aisle still needs enough room for the loaded forklift to approach and place a pallet. Check upper loaded reach as well as the turn at the row end. Older roughly 24 ft Westridge buildings and newer 32–40 ft space near GA-155 or GA-20 need separate elevation schedules even when they hold similar reserve stock.

Install lanes in a workable stock-transfer sequence

Plan a rack-material staging area outside the receiving buffer and identify the lane groups that can be released to inventory first. Georgia’s hot, humid summer conditions affect dry-warehouse crew work, while cold zones need their own access and temperature coordination. Thunderstorm-season unloading should use an agreed door and staging arrangement.

For a warehouse move, the destination lane assignment should be finished before teardown at the departing site. Identify stock that can use pushback and stock that requires direct access, then match new material to that drawing. Send pallet samples or dimensions, load weights, temperature requirements and the reserve inventory profile for a consultation and itemized quote.
