MCDONOUGH PALLET RACK
Pallet Racks in Jackson, GA
Jackson warehouse racking serves a mega-scale distribution setting along Highway 16.
The Jackson warehouse setting
The Cubes at River Park on Logistics Parkway lies less than a mile and a half from I-75, with buildings ranging from about 250,000 square feet to two million. Storage around automated handling must define where pallets wait, where they enter a system and where exceptions are resolved.
McDonough Pallet Rack plans new selective rack and pallet flow for Jackson, about twenty-three miles from McDonough. We work from the pallet movement and buffer requirement rather than treating the open warehouse as a single reserve block. The rack plan needs to fit the operation’s handling rules as well as the building.
Pallet flow needs both ends of the lane
Separate loading and picking faces create first-in, first-out movement through a pallet flow lane. For a Jackson DC, that can support repeated retail inventory or a buffer feeding another handling stage. Use representative loaded pallets during lane selection. Different underside boards, overhang and weights may change the way a pallet travels, so one nominal footprint is not enough information to select rollers and lane details.
The load-side aisle has to remain open during peak replenishment, and the pick-side route needs room for the receiving truck or downstream handling arrangement. Draw both sides together with cross-aisles and turning space. The position count should include only accessible locations, not a theoretical lane length that blocks loading. Identify how a stopped or exception pallet will be handled before the lane plan becomes part of the installation scope.
Buffer storage around automated distribution
A roughly one-million-square-foot highly automated retail distribution facility at River Park was announced in 2024. That is a market fact, not a completed project attributed to our company. Automation-adjacent storage needs clear interfaces: identify the pallets that enter automated handling, those waiting in reserve and those that require a different route because of footprint or load condition. Each group should have a defined location.
Selective rack provides direct access to exception stock and varied reserve items. Pallet flow can serve repeated loads feeding a predictable downstream process, provided the pallet underside, weight range and lane travel are matched. Compare the replenishment rate with the buffer quantity before choosing lane depth. A deep reserve block is not automatically useful if the system consumes mixed stock in a changing sequence.
Large row groups, practical handovers
For a Jackson building approaching one or two million square feet, divide the rack supply and installation drawing into zones that can be staged and handed over separately. Align each zone with inventory receiving and the automated-system work sequence where applicable. Hot Georgia summer conditions affect crews in non-air-conditioned warehouse areas, and thunderstorm-season unloading requires coordinated access to the chosen material doors.
Relocating stock into River Park should follow an approved storage map, not the order in which trucks happen to arrive. Label reserve, flow and exception zones before the transfer starts. Send pallet samples or dimensions, load weights, buffer quantities and an annotated building drawing for a warehouse consultation. McDonough Pallet Rack can then set out new rack material, installation zones and the storage interfaces that keep the automated and manual areas connected.
A port-fed building needs a receiving allowance
Park marketing places River Park about 225 miles from the Port of Savannah and 36 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson. The Henry County and GA-16 logistics corridor handles a substantial import flow through I-75 and I-16. Floor-loaded containers and mixed pallet sizes make receiving checks and repalletizing space worth planning explicitly. Reserve rack should begin after those loads have a defined storage footprint and weight.
Butts County is described as a Georgia Tier II job-tax-credit county in park marketing; that designation does not change beam capacity or the pallet arrangement. The storage design still needs the tenant’s inventory profile and actual handling equipment. In regional newer bulk buildings, confirm the measured clear height rather than relying on a general 32–40 ft range. Use the truck’s loaded reach to establish the usable upper elevations.
